Hotel Calypso Cancun

The behaviour of the staffs were very friendly. The room was also clean. But the furniture inside was extremely old and I was feeling hesitant kinda to use them for the night. Even the blankets, bed sheet they provided, was unwashed. It smelt like sweating and whole night I couldn’t use the blanket. Whatever the room is, but they should provide washes bedsheets and blanket so people can sleep comfortably.

This hotel is definitely great for the price. They are working on renovations and the pool was definitely the highlight of the trip. It is a decent area for traveling to the main hotel zone area, since the hotel is in-between the hotel zone and the main city of Cancun. There is a bus stop about a 2-3 minute walk from the hotel, though there are no official bus stop signs. The only complaints we had were that the room sometimes had a strong smell from the bathroom that was a sewage/septic smell. The room didn't have a microwave or fridge either, but did have working AC! It seems they have upgraded their water heaters and we didn't have issues with running out of warm water while showering during our stay. If you're looking for an affordable place so that you can spend money on excursions, souvenirs, etc. then I recommend this place.

5 Stars – Totally Worth It! Hotel Calypso exceeded our expectations! Not only was it totally worth the price, but we were greeted with a drink as soon as we arrived, which made us feel instantly welcome. The lady who works at the bar is absolutely amazing—super friendly, attentive, and really made our stay even more enjoyable. The location is also fantastic, close to everything we needed. Highly recommend and would definitely stay again!

Clean and comfortable; quite charming. An excellent budget friendly choice with more to offer than the typical "three star" choices. Came to Mexico with no "package" nor any real itinerary. Stayed here my first three days in Mexico (Xcaret and Mercado 23 visits), before taking a week long "renegade excursion" including Chichen Itza and Campeche visits. Returned here for my last few days, to visit the Mayan Museums (San Miguelito/El Ray) and Mercado 28. This was a great location to plan, access, and accomplish all I wanted to do in the area. The staff was very capable of communicating in English, and made the efforts I would expect of 4-5 star hotels. Very welcoming and friendly.

Great find, the staff Carlos, Kevin and Viktor were very friendly. The hotel is right next to 2 restaurants and a convenience store so that was great. We lived at Fontina. The hotel pool was very nice and aesthetic. Only down side was that the lights were out our first night however they did upgrade us so that was nice.

Fontiana is a great place! Carlos super attentive and kind, as well as victor and kevin. Most definitely a spot you want to check out. They have a great menu with many options of everything you could ever want Hotel Calypso is amazing as well! Very amazing staff and rooms, the view is amazingggg. Love every night here can't wait to be back.

Great little place amid the huge resorts. Friendly service with many amenities around such as groceries and restaurants. Just across the street from the ferry to Isla Mujeres .

I absolutely loved staying at this hotel, it is beautiful, me and my partner stayed in the superior suite room on floor 5 and it was amazing, beautiful aesthetic inside the room, it was clean and had everything we needed, the maids came in every day at around 4 o’clock to replenish the towels and change the sheets, we had absolutely no problems with our stay. The only thing I will say (no fault to the hotel at all) just a heads up for anyone travelling from the UK, our hairdryers don’t match the voltage in Mexico so they don’t work, I didn’t have a hairdryer in my room but I met a lady around the pool who kindly borrowed me the hairdryer from her room, I’m not sure if every room is equipped with a hairdryer and maybe our room was missed but again my hairdryer not working in the country is not fault to the hotel one bit. The rooms are also very spacious and have loads of room for your suitcases and clothes. The staff were absolutely wonderful, especially Natalie the lady behind the bar, she spoke excellent English and was so kind, she gave us great recommendations and she makes the nicest authentic sangrias! She also welcomed us with a shot as soon as we walked through the door, I hope her managers praise her enough because she is absolutely excellent Location was good, the beach was only across the road with the ferry port to Isla Mujures, there’s also a market and a pharmacy right outside the hotel. Either side of the hotel there’s 2 restaurant, the Mexican restaurant wasn’t the nicest and the staff in there were a bit rude but that is not fault to the hotel one bit, the Italian next door is amazing, so tasty and you can also order it from the hotel bar. We had breakfast included in our stay and every morning it was 10/10, the waffles and hot cakes were lovely, also the orange juice they served was very nice. The one thing I am a bit confused by is that online it says 2 pools, during my stay I only saw 1 pool, unless I’ve missed the other pool I’m not sure. Overall I would 110% come back again, if this hotel offered an all inclusive package I think it would be phenomenal, it’s such a clean hotel with lovely staff who were polite, friendly and gave great advice about Mexico. I was quite weary of coming to a country outside of Europe but as soon as I walked into the hotel I felt immediately settled and at ease, the warm feeling of the hotel felt homey. Thank you to all the staff at Calypso, I can’t wait to return in the future
